I love me some Caesar, but Agrippa was far superior to our prematurely perforated dictator.

Not only Agrippa, but also during Augustus' reign the battle of Teuteberg forest took place and he lost the eagles of 3 legions. Two of the eagles were recovered during one of his generals called Germanicus. The third and final standard was recovered much later by General Gabinius Secundus in 41 AD during the rule of Emperor Claudius.

Bro, ceaser left Antony in charge of Rome while he went on campaign, and by the time he returned the city was revolting. I don't think he betrayed Antony, I believe he WANTED Antony to succeed him but had been proven illfit to be his heir

Because he did not know how . He was a tribal leader, not Marcus Aurelius. He knew how to take a city and make everyone to pay tribute, but that's all. As a result Mongol invasions threw many countries and nations back in cultural development. Effective post service could hardly compensate for the massive extinction of populace

I am a racist, and to me the me the history of Rome is a cautionary tale of the dangers of civic nationalism and unbound multiculturalism. An entire civilisation completely disappeared because the founding people became a tiny, insignificant minority in the empire they created. The original Romans basically diluted themselves out of existence. Just compare that with the history of the notoriously xenophobic Han Chinese who can look back on an unbroken chain of ethnic -and therefore civilizational - continuity. The difference is striking. And instructive.

Selling oneself into slavery? HOw does that work? The money you get on yourself....becomes the master's. Now serving or working for food and shelter is another issue. Bankers probably had more money. So did merchants. Between the working class and the patricians/equites and the working class there were some that had more money (bankers and merchants).

Caesar tested Anthony by letting him govern Rome while he was away to fight in Egypt. Anthony fucked up spectacularly. Caesar knew that Octavian was the more calculated one and together with Agrippa he would ensure peace, prosperity and a secure rule over Rome.

All Roman emperors were white (even if they were born in Africa they had Italian origin not African) , most Roman gods were european (Greek) Basically they were Europeans, acted like Europeans and lived like Europeans, apart from that they also made the greatest european civilization of all time I can see why white racist people loves Rome
